Nortura is one of Norway’s biggest food manufacturers with well-known brands such as Gilde and Prior. The company ensures that consumers all over the country have the same selection of quality products to choose from. At the same time, Nortura is also a major supplier of consumer-packed products to grocery stores, kiosks, and petrol stations.
In 2021, Nortura decided to gather its pig slaughtering in Tønsberg. The decision is an important step of Nortura’s industrial development plan which was presented in 2020.
In connection with the merger, Frontmatec has been chosen to implement one overall manufacturing execution system (MES) level platform to replace the existing seven different systems which currently exist. At the same time, an extended MES integration is required to SAP which is already fully deployed in the factory.
The new manufacturing execution system will cover the complete pork slaughter, chilling, and cutting and deboning areas. Besides that, it also covers production planning, integration to ERP and performance monitoring for all area key performance indicators.
The final solution will secure the future of the factory through Industry 4.0 compliance, the possibility to integrate to other software solutions and third-party hardware, cloud computing, IIOT and Artificial Intelligence.
