Switzerland, known for high standards, uses a classification and accreditation system similar to but more stringent than the EUROP system used in the EU. Frontmatec BCC-3TM is now approved as the only objective grading solution that can be used for payment in Switzerland.

The consistency in how carcasses are graded gives farmers the confidence that they are paid fairly and correctly, and it gives the slaughterhouse the basis for optimal sourcing and value extraction of the cattle.

The Swiss also emphasized in their motivation for BCC-3 that this solution holds the promise for substantial operational savings in the future when they implement some of the additional applications of BCC-3TM. Such applications, already available or under development, include estimation of cut weights, estimation of marbling, monitoring of dressing quality, and alarms for visible flaws of veterinary or hygienic concern.
